Training session success for fire fighters

Fire-fighters from Kibworth Station had their hoses at the ready last Saturday for a practise fire drill which they carried out on one of empty houses at David Wilson East Midlands’ Kibworth Meadows development in Kibworth Harcourt.

The local housebuilder allowed the crew to utilise plot 25, which is a three storey, five- bedroom property in the style of a Linford, and two crews had to rescue three dummies from the home which was filled with smoke to replicate the real thing.

Nigel Marlow, Watch Manager at Kibworth Station comments “The drill went brilliantly and being given the opportunity to practise our procedures at different venues provides the lads with invaluable training experiences.

“The crew practised their door entry and stairwell procedures, which are both integral parts of our operation that require regular practise to ensure that when it comes to the real thing we get it right. The drill was a complete success and the members who took part came away buzzing.

“We are extremely grateful to David Wilson for allowing us to use their property and we are now looking at using other properties at the development, possibly an apartment, to work on in the future. I hope this is the beginning of a successful relationship between Leicestershire Fire and Rescue and David Wilson Homes.”
