End of an era at The Grange in Leicester

It was champagne on the rooftop for members of David Wilson East Midlands’ Construction Team as they held a special topping out ceremony to celebrate the completion of build work at The Grange development in Leicester.

Situated on Glenfrith Road, The Grange is one of David Wilson’s most significant development comprising over 500 new homes. Build work started on the first home back in 1999 and now some 10 years later the final gable and chimney have been fixed into place on plot 668 which is a four- bedroom detached home in the style of a Hanbury.

In the space of those 10 years, no less than five Site Managers have overseen the build progress at one point or another. Ivan Towson was the first who worked on the development from 1999 to 2003 before being promoted to Contracts Manager. Jason Lowe was his successor for the duration of 2004. Next was Gary Tebbatt who took the reign for the next two years before moving to The Chestnuts in Syston. Michael Joinson took over in 2006 until 2008 when he went to work on the new Humberstone Lodge development and finally Neil Attfield has been overseeing the development during its final few months.

All five were present on the day to help celebrate the significant occasion.

Ivan Towson started off as Site Manager at The Grange but oversaw the entire building process as Contracts Manager. He comments “You always feel a sense of achievement when a development completes but The Grange definitely holds a special place in our heart because it’s been such a major development not just for the Construction Team, but for the East Midlands division as a whole.

“I’ve worked on The Grange from the beginning and here we are 10 years later smashing a bottle of champagne over plot 668 to celebrate built completion. 500 homes is a considerable amount and I’m proud to have overseen such a significant development for the company.”

Darren Langton, Construction Director adds “The lads have done a fantastic job at The Grange ensuring quality build work on each and every home that has been built during the last 10 years.

“David Wilson has a long and established reputation for building high quality homes throughout the East Midlands and The Grange is a prime example of the exceptional standard we set throughout all our developments.

“We’ve won numerous NHBC awards for outstanding quality and workmanship at The Grange, which is a fitting tribute to everyone who has worked on the development at one point or another.

“It may be the end of an era at The Grange but we look forward to building more quality developments throughout the region for many years to come.”
