Lasting Twyfords legacy unveiled at Lock 38 Countryside Properties has officially unveiled the magnificently restored Twyfords factory which forms the heart of its award-winning Lock 38 development in Cliffe Vale.

The much anticipated restoration of the Twyfords factory façade is now complete and to mark the occasion, it has for the first time been captured on camera to enable a comparison with the archive photography dating back to the early 1900s.

Countryside Properties along with Stoke City Council were there to celebrate the restoration of the renowned factory, which has been aptly named Twyford Court, as part of the developer's ongoing commitment to the sustainable regeneration of Stoke-on-Trent.

An extensive eight month renovation process has seen the factory returned to its former splendour, which dates back to Stoke-on-Trent's potters' ancestry. Countryside Properties' construction team carefully dismantled the ageing building and rebuilt it using the original brick work to capture a traditional resemblance of the time-honoured factory.

Councillor Adrian Knapper, Stoke City Council's portfolio holder for regeneration and Martin Leggett, Countryside Properties' regional sales director, were pictured in front of the newly reinstated factory and its magnificent gate entrance through which potters journeyed into work all those years ago.

Talking at the launch about what the renovation of the Twyfords factory means for the area, Councillor Adrian Knapper, Stoke City Council's portfolio holder for regeneration commented: "As the regeneration of Stoke-on-Trent begins to take shape, there is no better time to remember our past. The people of Stoke-on-Trent have a varied and fascinating history to be proud of and it is important that we strive to preserve this wherever we can as we move into a new and exciting era.

"Countryside Properties has done the people of Stoke-on-Trent proud with the restoration of the Twyfords factory to its former glory and the work that they have carried out at Lock 38 is truly representative of our vision for the transformation of the city. The apartments provide residents with an aspirational way of life, and yet great care and attention has been given to the surrounding area."

Martin Leggett, Countryside Properties' Sales Director adds: "Countryside Properties is firmly committed to building quality new homes that benefit the local area in which they lie. To do this, we believe we have to be mindful of the existing environment and we are always conscious of its local heritage. Lock 38 epitomises trendy waterside living in an up and coming area, but carefully designed and at an affordable and realistic price tag, it is helping to build a sustainable community.

"Twyfords Court has been an exciting project for us and to see the final result is really rewarding. Whilst the technology used to take the photography may have changed dramatically, the likeness in the appearance of the building is remarkable."

Comprising a range of contemporary one and two bedroom apartments, Twyford Court is located adjacent to the picturesque Trent and Mersey Canal and adds a further 51 one and two bedroom apartments to the 115 at Lock 38.

A number of apartments at Twyford Court are available through Countryside Properties' shared equity scheme for just £66,500. ‘Move Up' enables buyers to pay 70% of the value of an apartment at Twyford Court, with the developer taking care of the remaining 30% for 10 years.
