Countryside Properties win big at the housing "Oscars"

Countryside Properties win big at the housing "Oscars" Countryside Properties' site manager Kevin Ward has been presented with an award for excellence at the equivalent of the Oscars for the housing industry for the second year running.

Kevin was recognised for his work on the Lock 38 development in Stoke-on Trent, which has recently seen the painstaking restoration of the historic Twyfords factory, at the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards 2008.

The site manager, who lives in Cannock, is no stranger to success as he was rewarded in last year's awards for his work at another of Countryside Properties' popular developments in Stoke-on-Trent - Sadlers Park.

But Kevin wasn't the only success story for Countryside Properties at the awards with Peter Jones at Sadlers Park, Steve Downie at Heatley Mere in Lymm, Phil McHugh at HQ in St Helens and John Boothman at Carrington Park in Warrington all picking up prizes at the ceremony.

The Pride in the Job awards seek out and reward the best site managers across the country. Judging takes place in unannounced visits by NHBC inspectors, who score across 38 different areas of site management, including technical knowledge, build consistency and leadership skills. More than 18,000 site managers across the country are entered into the awards.

Kevin said: "I'm delighted to have been honoured with this award for the second year in a row, but I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to my colleagues at Countryside for all their hard work and support. This award is just as much for them as it is for me. We work very closely with the NHBC and their inspectors, who visit site on a regular basis, particularly at key stages of the development."

Martin Leggett, at Countryside Properties, said: "Pride in the Job is one of the most sought after awards in the industry. It provides an accurate measure of performance and is a tangible result of our continual efforts to raise the quality of home construction. To achieve such a top award as the Seal of Excellence is testament to the hard work of all our site managers. It is a fantastic achievement."

Lock 38 offers stylish one bedroom waterside apartments with a number of properties available through Countryside Properties' shared equity scheme for just £66,500. ‘Move Up' enables buyers to pay 70% of the value of an apartment, with the developer taking care of the remaining 30% for 10 years.
