Youngster wins Barratt Christmas card design comp A seven-year-old's winning Christmas card design will feature on the front of cards from Barratt West Midlands' Scholar's Gate development in Stafford, after the youngster won a competition to depict her perfect Christmas at home.

Years three, four, five and six from Castlechurch Primary School in Stafford took part and seven-year-old pupil, Katie Roden's entry was named top of the pile. Katie's design focused on Christmas as a time where her family got together and enjoyed spending time with each other. The entry has now been printed onto special Barratt West Midlands cards for all pupils at the school and will also be sent to residents at the housebuilder's Scholar's Gate development.

Aside from Katie, six-year-old Thomas Barnett and ten-year-old Charlotte Johnson's entries were named as runners-up. Competition was fierce as there were so many colourful Christmas scenes, but the eventual winners all received a £10 WHSmith voucher and a goody bag for their efforts.

The winner and runners-up were presented their prizes and the final Christmas card was revealed on Monday, 15th December at the school's assembly.

Headteacher, Gill Hampton, said, "All our pupils loved taking part in the design competition and it definitely got them even more excited about Christmas, if that was at all possible! Katie was so surprised to have won and she/he obviously cannot wait to take the finished article home to his/her parents.

"I would like to thank Barratt for organising the competition and for providing the prizes - it really has meant they have had even more to look forward to at the end of all their hard work this term."

Graydon Worthing, Sales Director for Barratt West Midlands, said, "It is always good to see children having fun whilst they learn and as a company, we understand the responsibility we have to be involved with the local communities around our developments. This is one of the reasons why we organised the competition for the pupils of Castlechurch Primary School.

"Our Scholar's Gate development is great for families looking for that special home which is near to a school they would be happy to send their children to. What is more, the prices suit all buyers and budgets alike - the perfect ingredients for a dream home."

Castlechurch Primary School is situated on Tennyson Road in Stafford, just a few minutes drive away from the Scholar's Gate development on School Lane. It offers two-bedroom apartments and four- and five-bedroom homes, with prices ranging from £154,950 to £448,950. For further information, log on to Barratthomes.co.uk/scholarsgate-westmidlands.
