An easy move for the Harper family

Prompted by the need to find more space for four-year-olds Harry and Jack, 34-year-old Matthew, a financial controller for Kier Services in Stoke, and Charlotte (34), a Practice Nurse, moved locally, from a three-bedroom 1930s home in Newcastle-Under-Lyme to a brand new five-bedroom ‘Tollerton’ housetype at Farriers Keep.
“We looked around quite a bit in our search for a new home, but saw the ‘Tollerton’ early on and we were interested in it from the beginning,” explains Charlotte. “The boys started school last year and with good schools locally and the fact that I recently changed jobs to work in Silverdale meant that the location was a big attraction.
“The house itself had plenty of appeal too – it struck us as very open and spacious, and for a new property has plenty of character.”
The double-fronted ‘Tollerton’ is laid out over three floors, and features a large lounge with doors into the rear garden, a kitchen/breakfast room, a dining room and a separate utility room. A guest cloakroom off the entrance hallway completes the ground floor, and outside there is a double garage.
Upstairs, the landing leads to a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, two further well-proportioned bedrooms of similar size – ideal for twins – and a main bathroom. Bedrooms four and five and a shower room can be found on the top floor.
“Part of the attraction of choosing a new-build home was that we wouldn’t have to do any renovations with young children in the house, but also that we received help with the process of moving through George Wimpey’s Easymover scheme,” says Charlotte.
In addition to recommending solicitors who could handle the conveyance quickly and efficiently, George Wimpey put Charlotte and Matthew’s old home on the market, finding a buyer in just one month, and paid their estate agent’s fees.
“Compared with the move I had made previously, moving to Farriers Keep was very straightforward,” adds Charlotte. “We hope to be living here for many years to come while the boys are at school.”
Three, four and five-bedroom homes are available at Farriers Keep using the Easymover scheme, a package of incentives which takes away much of the time and effort of marketing an old house, and includes payment of estate agency fees, free home removals, free financial advice and up to £1,000 towards legal fees.
Customers can currently choose the three-bedroom ‘Brooke’ priced £179,995, the four-bedroom ‘Kendle’ and ‘Priory’ designs starting at £199,995, and the five-bedroom ‘Tollerton’ from £284,995.
Alternatively, one lucky purchaser can now reserve the detached four-bedroom ‘Gables’ showhome priced £264,995 – a ready-made home complete with integrated kitchen appliances, carpets, floorings, and luxury fixtures and fittings.
All new homes at Farriers Keep enjoy a high standard specification including gas central heating, double glazing and a fitted kitchen with built-in oven, hob and hood.
Farriers Keep is situated to the west of Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre, within easy reach of local shops and every day facilities.
The town itself is home to a wider choice of shops, leisure opportunities, schools and nurseries, while Stoke-on-Trent, which offers a vast array of bars, restaurants, theatres and nightlife, is just a 10-minute drive away.
Commuters will also appreciate that the M6 motorway is within easy reach, offering quick links to Manchester and Birmingham.
