Prices at The Pinnacle put dream home within reach

Prices at The Pinnacle put dream home within reach When Andy and Janine Higgins first saw the detached four-bedroom houses at George Wimpey’s The Pinnacle development near Stoke-on-Trent, they knew they had found a perfect family home.

But that was 18 months ago when property prices were at their peak, and deciding it was then outside their range, they continued their search.

“In the meantime, we had sold our three-bedroom house in Packmoor, just north of Stoke, and we were all set to move to a house in Kidsgrove,” explains Andy. “But that fell through and we were back to square one.”

After that disappointment and with the property market slowing, Andy and Janine had pretty much decided to take their house off the market. But then, in summer last year, they took another look at The Pinnacle and found that the prices of the four-bedroom detached houses had fallen – and were now within their reach.

Andy explains, “We had intended to ensure our old house was sold quickly and without any issues by using George Wimpey’s part-exchange programme, but out of the blue someone put in an offer which we accepted.”

As a result, Andy (36) and Janine (28) have the home they had set their hearts on 18 months earlier, giving them the extra space they need for daughters Minnii (3) and one-year-old Sophie.

“The main reason for our move was that we couldn’t see the bedrooms in our old house being big enough for our Minnii and Sophie as they grew up,” adds Andy.

“The house in Packmoor was fairly dilapidated when we bought it, and over the two-and-a-half years we lived there, we did around £20,000 worth of improvements.

“Apart from being in a good location not far from town, we really like the fact that our new home doesn’t need any work doing to it. Having spent so much time on our old place, with two young children we didn’t want to go through the disruption again!”

Andy, a Major Account Manager for courier firm DHL, has plenty of space to work from home during the week, and good road links to where his job is formally based, at East Midlands Airport near Derby. Janine works part-time at Sainsbury’s in Stoke, just a few minutes’ drive from The Pinnacle.

Similar to the ‘Westbourne’ property which attracted Andy and Janine, the four-bedroom, detached ‘Hurstwood’ is currently available from £184,995.

Comprising a large kitchen/dining room with French doors to the rear garden, a utility room, and a spacious lounge the ground floor is completed by a cloakroom and an integral garage.

Upstairs, the landing leads to a spacious master suite comprising a large double bedroom, bathroom and fitted wardrobes, a second double bedroom with fitted wardrobes, a main bathroom and two further bedrooms.

Like all new homes at the development, the ‘Hurstwood’ benefits from a high standard specification including central heating, double glazing and a fitted kitchen with built-in oven, hob and hood.

Customers can also choose to part-exchange their old home for the four-bedroom ‘Mayfield’ which is priced from £169,995, while three-bedroom homes at The Pinnacle start at £124,995.

Boasting an excellent location within easy reach of the Peak District, The Pinnacle enjoys stunning views and is a must-see for anyone who loves the great outdoors.

Nearby Stoke-on-Trent has a rich history that grew from the pottery industry, and today is a vibrant city offering great shopping and leisure opportunities.

Closer still, a choice of shops selling everyday items are within walking distance of the development, while the area boasts seven primary schools within a mile of the homes, as well as two secondary schools. The highly regarded Keele University is less than 10 miles away, while Alton Towers, Festival Park and Trentham Gardens offer plenty of opportunities for family days out.

Commuters will appreciate that the development is a 10-minute drive from the M6, and that Greater Manchester, the Midlands and North Wales are all within easy reach.
