A 'Dream Start’ for first-time buyers

Housebuilder Barratt has brought back its popular Dream Start scheme to help first-time buyers get a foot on the property ladder. The scheme, which is exclusively designed for first-time buyers, allows purchasers to buy a brand new home without a deposit and pay only 75 per cent of the purchase price with the remaining 25 per cent deferred — without interest or rent — for up to 10 years, or until the house is resold.

This means that on selected developments in the region buyers could get a 2- bedroom apartment from £90,750 or a 2-bedroom home from around £94,500.

Barratt Newcastle Sales Manager, Steve Mariner said: “Barratt is committed to helping first-time buyers. The Dream Start scheme was warmly welcomed by house hunters everywhere when it was first launched and it made the difference between being able to afford to buy a brand new home or not.

“Under Dream Start, the deferred amount is paid back as 25 per cent of the property’s open market value, within 10 years. That means the house belongs to the purchaser 100 per cent from day one and buyers can realise their dream of home ownership at a fantastic price.”

In addition to a no deposit Dream Start purchasers also benefit from fitted carpets, kitchen appliances and legal fees paid.

The Dream Start package is currently available at The Carrs in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea and Windsor Court in Birtley.

The Carrs development benefits from a regeneration of the coast at Newbiggin, offering residents the chance to relax and enjoy the fresh sea breeze. The town is well located for the A189 spine road with links to Cramlington and North Tyneside. It is also within easy access of Morpeth and the A1 via the A197.

Windsor Court is an excellent development for young professionals, commuters and first-time buyers, as Birtley is surrounded by a good road network with access to Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland via the A1. It is also well-located for access to the Team Valley Trading Estate and the MetroCentre.
