A fast track move to Hexham

24th August 2009 Print
A fast track move to Hexham Julie and Chris Nixon have found themselves living in their new five bedroom, three storey home at Hackwood Glade in Hexham far earlier than anticipated after George Wimpey part exchanged the property below them in the chain.

Because of the part exchange initiative, the couple were able to move into their new build home together with their two children at the end of June, just six weeks after they had reserved it.

The Nixons had previously been living in Consett but their son was at school near Hexham and had to take a 40 minute coach ride every morning and afternoon, so it made sense for them to move closer to his school.

At first there was no urgency and the family planned to move at the end of 2009. However, when they heard that their ideal property had come up for sale at Hackwood Glade at a price that was too good to ignore, it was all systems go.

Julie said: “We didn’t want to lose the opportunity to move to a brand new house in Hexham. We’ve always loved this area and the surrounding neighbourhood, and know how rare it is for new homes to be built here, so we jumped at the chance.

“The development has a very exclusive feel to it and is in a lovely setting so we feel certain that the houses here will hold their value if not increase.”

The Nixons sold their house in Consett quickly but their buyers were having difficulties selling their home, so George Wimpey offered to use its part exchange scheme and buy their house from them. The scheme removed all the pressure of having to sell their home and left them free to move much earlier than expected.

Joan Peart, sales and marketing director for George Wimpey North East, commented: “The most stressful aspect of buying a new home is selling your current property. With part exchange, we buy your house from you, so it couldn’t be simpler.”

The Nixons are very pleased with the location of their new home. Julie commented: “It’s fantastic living so close to the town centre; we can walk to the shops in less than ten minutes. The neighbourhood also feels very safe for our children and we’re very close to Hexham Park which has lots of activities taking place for youngsters.”

They are also very happy with their new five bedroom Windermere home, which they feel lends itself to family living. Julie said: “Having the third floor gives us a lot more space and flexibility. Our son has pretty much the whole of the top floor to himself because he uses one of the rooms as a bedroom and the other as a den.”

Since the Nixons moved in to Hackwood Glade, Julie’s parents, Anne and Derek Pattison, have also now reserved a home at the development so that they can be close to their grandchildren.

Julie commented: “My parents are downsizing from a four bedroom home in Consett to a two bedroom apartment at Hackwood Glade and are already looking forward to the prospect of not having to clean a large home or maintain a garden.”
