Work, rest and play at unique riverside location in Milford

20th July 2007 Print
Work, rest and play at unique riverside location in Milford ‘Something for everyone’ on new build developments usually means growing families, young professionals and couples, first time buyers and even property investors!

Well, that’s certainly true of Water’s Edge by George Wimpey North Midlands in the picture postcard hamlet of Milford, near Belper, but it’s also attracting an increasing number of downsizers, holiday home seekers and people who work from home - because of the properties on offer and the unique riverside location.

Water's Edge is just off the A6 Derby Road and is set amongst tranquil, rolling hills in Milford village - which is a conservation area and a designated World Heritage Site. And all of the 97 properties have been carefully planned to preserve the natural integrity of the area.

Sales & marketing director Andy Gough explains: “We’re creating very spacious four/five bedroom Hazelwood homes (overlooking the River Derwent) that have been designed on a 'work/live' basis and have capacity for an adjoining workshop or office - starting at only £319,995. Now, it’s not just office-based professionals who can cut out the commute to work and have a better life balance, tradesmen can also set up from home and operate more efficiently and cost effectively.

“Plus quite a few of our elder buyers to date have sold up their big family homes in the cities nearby (pocketing the equity for their retirement) and gone for smaller, new build properties at Water’s Edge that are low maintenance and in a much more tranquil environment.

“We’re even attracting investors who want to capture the holiday let as well as the rental market – because the Derwent is a fisherman’s paradise and the whole valley offers fantastic walking and mountain biking and easy access to the whole of the glorious Peak District.

“Additionally, the new generously proportioned Middleton five bedroom, three storey showhome closely overlooks the east bank of the picturesque Derwent for a truly unique location and feel. Indeed, the front of the showhome is landscaped right down to the water itself and offers a delightful walkway and waterside bench from which to really take in the riverside experience. There are now Middleton homes – with the same view overlooking the Derwent and rolling green fields - from just £239,995.”

Other availability at Water’s Edge includes one bedroom apartments from £155,000, two bedroom versions overlooking the weir from £163,500 (£182,000 with a garage), three bedroom mews homes from £186,995, four bedroom townhouses from £218,000 and four bedroom detached from just £276,995.

Peakmoor sandstone walls, local slate roof tiles, timber windows and doors, plus cutting edge steel balconies and porches, all ensure that these new homes of distinction comply with stringent World Heritage requirements. Skilled craftsmen, used to working with Derbyshire stone and local materials, have also been employed on site, while the development is also served by excellent natural resources and facilities.

The Sales Centre and stunning new Middleton showhome (plus three other showhomes) are open daily to visitors daily from 11am – 5pm.
