Redrow arrives in Church Gresley
Redrow is adding to its ever-growing portfolio in the Midlands with its new venture in Church Gresley, near Swadlincote. The award-winning house builder has bought 163 plots on an11 acre site, which is part of a larger scheme, already being developed in the Derbyshire village. The wider scheme is bounded by the built-up area of Church Gresley and Swadlincote Lane and will eventually accommodate between 1,000 and 1,200 homes in total, including affordable housing.
Detailed planning consent has been granted and Redrow will provide a range of homes, for people on all stages of the property ladder including apartments and two, three, four and five-bedroom houses.
Work is due to start imminently on the project, which will have a finished value of circa £28 million and has been named ‘Priory Fields’ by Redrow. The aim is to have the show home built by November and the first residents moving in during June 2008.
Redrow’s land director in the Midlands, Ian Young said: “We are delighted to have been able to acquire this site, which is in close proximity to our offices in Tamworth. A site of this size will allow us to establish a presence in South Derbyshire for three to four years.
“There will be a wide range of properties at Priory Fields to suit all tastes and Redrow is also providing an area of open space incorporating a children’s play facility as a focal point to our scheme.”
Large areas of open space and woodland have been set aside on the overall masterplan prepared by David Wilson Homes, who will also make a contribution towards the construction and maintenance of a local community building.
Homebuyers will be able to enjoy the relaxed pace of village life at Church Gresley, which is conveniently located for the town of Swadlincote.
The development at Church Gresley is a perfect addition to Redrow's growing portfolio in the Midlands, which now includes new homes in Hilton, Burton-upon-Trent, Bingham, Birmingham city centre, Stoke-on-Trent, Telford and Lichfield.
These schemes are being developed by Redrow Homes (Midlands), which has an office in Tamworth, and is a subsidiary of Redrow plc, which builds circa 5,000 homes across the UK each year.
