Garry Bowler, senior site manager of Trinity Park in Barrow-Upon Soar and Allen Marshall, site manager of Centro West in Derby city centre, have both received the awards, which recognise their dedication, high standards and expertise – as demonstrated at the developments they manage.

For Garry Bowler, this award is made even more special by the fact that he is now the only East Midlands site manager to have received the award more than once, having previously been awarded it in 2005 for the management of Miller Homes East Midlands’ luxurious waterside development, The Quays in Nottingham.

The NHBC is the house building industry body which monitors and upholds quality standards in the industry and the awards form part of its campaign to promote excellence in the industry and Miller’s awards are two of just 400 given throughout the UK which are competed for by 18,000 site managers.

The awards were presented to Garry and Allen by Richard Hartshorn regional director – East of the NHBC and Miller Homes East Midlands’ deputy managing director, Andy Noton at a presentation ceremony and party held at Derby Rugby Club.

“We are extremely proud of Garry and Allen and their site teams, and the fact that they have achieved this success at our Leicestershire flagship development, Trinity Park and our first major city centre scheme in Derby, Centro West makes the awards even more pleasing,” explains Andy Noton.

“These awards show that the managers are in the top 0.2% in the country, but they do not achieve them alone, as the awards are only won through team effort, determination and commitment. Pride in the Job Awards are about quality, consistency and getting it right first time.”

The judging process of the Pride in the Job Awards is one year-long and is carried out by NHBC inspectors, managers and directors who visit developments and seek out the site managers that fulfill the NHBC criteria by demonstrating good on site health and safety, leadership skills, good construction standards and are able to deliver construction projects within budget and to set timescales.

Richard Hartshorn says of the awards:

“Over the past two years, five Miller Homes East Midlands site managers have been awarded Pride in the Job Awards, and to have five different managers win is a particularly strong achievement, showing the company’s breadth of quality across its site management teams.”

Certificates were also awarded on the day to site teams and sub-contractors related to the sites of the award winning site managers, recognising their hard work and commitment to helping to deliver a high quality end product to the customer.
