Barratt puts down roots in the National Forest

Barratt celebrated the launch of its new show homes at The Glade with an undertaking to plant a tree in the National Forest for every visitor who came through the door. The company will also plant a tree for every completed purchase at the development.
The first tree – a traditional English Oak - was handed over to the National Forest Company’s Chief Executive, Sophie Churchill.
She said: “This is a welcome and very real contribution to the environment. It is very important for new developments like this to be in sympathy with their surroundings. The Glade development looks great and Barratt are should be complimented for thinking ahead and considering what it will look like in 50 years time. Planting new trees in the National Forest will be a huge benefit to the area as a whole.”
Barratt’s East Midlands Sales Director, Mark Powell said: “Thanks to the enormous amount of interest in The Glade and the high number of visitors on the first day – we will be able to plant a substantial amount of trees already. Then we will plant another 119 – one for each new home.
“We have a major responsibility to this area and planting more trees in the National Forest is the ideal way for us to invest in the future of the area.”
