Miller swings into action for local baby care unit

The day brought together 20 teams made up of employees from Miller Homes, its business associates and sub-contractors, who all competed in a series of golfing challenges in honor of the charity.
Funds were raised throughout the day via entrance fees from each team, the sponsoring of holes, personal donations and a raffle held during an evening dinner and presentation.
The team from Magfern Recycling proved to be a force to be reckoned with on the day, scooping not only the prize for ‘Longest Drive' courtesy of Andy Upton, but also being crowned champions of the overall competition at the evening reception, where the team were presented with a trophy and new pair of golfing shoes each for their efforts.
Miller Homes assistant site manager Chris Topham, who represented the TCB Contracts team, claimed the ‘Nearest the Pin' title.
Managing director of Miller Homes East Midlands, Andy Noton comments: "We wanted to hold an event that would be of benefit to the local community, and are extremely proud to be associated with the Friends of the Baby Care Unit, as it is a very worthwhile and dedicated local cause.
"I would like to thank all our suppliers for turning out to show their support for our fundraising endeavors. I am sure that everyone involved would agree that the day was a huge success and much fun was had by all."
The total raised by the golf day exceeded the sum made by last year's event, when £4,000 was donated to Nightingale Macmillan Unit on London Road, Derby.
