Prestigious award for Miller Homes site manager

Allen Marshall, the award-winning site manager for Miller Homes East Midlands, has won yet another accolade - a Chartered Institute of Building Gold Award. He was presented with the coveted honour in the Residential Homes up to £15m category at the Construction Manager of the Year Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

Consistently taking personal responsibility for making his schemes a success, Allen always sets his sights on running the most perfect site - which is in evidence at the Centro West development in Derby city centre.

The judges were particularly impressed at Allen's pragmatic approach and his ability to think about solutions to issues and his skill in scheduling deliveries to the site, which is bounded by busy main roads. They also noted that he found a financially and structurally viable solution to the problem of a required flood prevention wall on one of the boundaries, given that the existing partial wall was not thought stable enough to withstand a planned car park.

Allen said: "I am so pleased with this, although I think I do the job the way it should be done. To receive an award for doing a job I love is great."

This year is the 30th year that the Construction Manager of the Year awards have celebrated excellence in construction. The COIB awards, judged through on-site assessments and a judging panel, have been designed to recognise individual excellence, and reward those who are able to show exemplary standards throughout their work.

This is the first time that Miller Homes East Midlands has entered one of its site mangers into the awards scheme.
