The direct way to the property ladder

20th April 2009 Print
The direct way to the property ladder Potential new home buyers will be able to learn more about how they could get on the property ladder thanks to a little help from the Government and Miller Homes East Midlands.

The multi-award-winning housebuilder, which has a number of select developments across the East Midlands, has signed up to the Homebuy Direct Scheme, aimed at those wanting to buy a new home or those in need of affordable housing.

The scheme is available on selected properties at Miller Homes’ developments at Highfields Park, adjacent to the sought-after suburb of Darley Abbey, and Cavendish Wharf, a popular location situated in Shardlow.

On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April, between 10.30am to 5:30pm, both sites will be welcoming visitors to find out more about whether they qualify for the scheme, while an independent financial advisor will be on hand to answer questions.

Joy Goodman, sales director at Miller Homes East Midlands, commented: “This scheme is ideal for the first-time buyer, key worker, or those who previously lived in their own homes but need help buying a new one.

“This type of scheme is a boost to the housing market as it makes new homes affordable and provides people with the confidence that they can get onto the property ladder.”

The Homebuy Direct scheme has been carefully structured to enable people to take an equity loan of up to 30 per cent of the purchase price which will be co-funded by Miller Homes and the Government.

This means that they will only need to find a mortgage to cover 70 per cent of the purchase price but can still own 100 per cent of the property. The loan, on which there is no interest to pay for the first five years, is only repayable after 25 years or when the customer sells their home, whichever comes first.
