The direct way to a new home in Derbyshire

22nd June 2009 Print
The direct way to a new home in Derbyshire Miller Homes East Midlands is hosting two fantastic events to showcase how a Government-backed scheme could be helping people to get on the property ladder in Derbyshire.

And the events, being held at the award-winning housebuilders’ developments at Little Heron Mews, Long Eaton and Cavendish Wharf, Shardlow over the weekend of June 27 and 28 from 11am to 4pm daily, will also present the first opportunity for people to view new showhomes.

Joy Goodman, sales director at Miller Homes East Midlands, commented: “New homes are becoming more and more affordable, particularly with the help of the Government through the Homebuy Direct scheme.

“We thought we would throw open our doors and invite people to find out more about Homebuy Direct with the help of our staff and independent financial advisors, and at the same time take the opportunity to officially open new showhomes.”

Buyers who qualify for the scheme – households with a combined income of less than £60,000 a year – will have the opportunity to purchase 100 per cent of their home by paying 70 per cent of the value, with both Miller Homes and the Government equally funding the remaining 30 percent.

The 30 per cent equity loan will only become repayable after 25 years or when the customer sells their home, whichever comes first. So, for example, buyers of a property priced at £189,950 will only have to arrange a mortgage of £142,462.

At Cavendish Wharf, on the site of a former workhouse and benefiting from a rural setting, Miller Homes is opening a new two-bedroomed apartment and a Sheridan showhome.

The Sheridan is an elegant and spacious three-bedroomed townhouse, which features an unusual L-shaped lounge with dual windows. The master bedroom on the second floor benefits from an en-suite shower room.

Little Heron Mews is the first development to be launched in Long Eaton by Miller Homes, which this year is celebrating its 75th anniversary. The location is ideal for commuters who travel to Derby or Nottingham and is sited near to nature reserves and parkland.

The showhome being launched during the weekend is a two-bedroomed apartment, which has already proved popular with aspiring young professionals.

An extra incentive is also being offered to visitors attending Cavendish Wharf throughout the weekend, as Miller Homes is offering one lucky individual the chance to win £100 worth of Mark & Spencer vouchers to help furnish their potential new home.

Only one winner will be drawn at random from those who leave their details with sales advisors during the event, so interested parties are being urged to book an appointment at the Sales Information Centre to avoid disappointment on the day.
