Green signals go at Briars Chase in Ilkeston Children aged 8 to 15 in Derbyshire are being urged to pull on their thinking caps – and their wellies – to design their ultimate dream garden.

The winner will see their design turned into a reality at Taylor Wimpey’s new Briars Chase development in Ilkeston. Not only will they have the honour of opening the garden to the public, they will also receive £100 worth of gift vouchers.

Kelly French, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “This is a brilliant opportunity for budding gardeners to create something amazing! All they need to do is draw their big idea for a dream garden so that it fits into a rectangle shape.

“The designs can be as colourful and imaginitive as they like, using felt tips, coloured pencils, crayons, pastels, paints or collage to show us exactly what they would like to see in their dream garden.

“Once all the entries are in, our expert landscapers will get to work, turning the winning design into a wonderful show garden to complement the brand new showhome that also opens at Briars Chase on Saturday 26th September!”

In addition to the £100 top prize, judges will award a second prize of £50 vouchers, and third prize of £20 vouchers.

Competition entry forms are available by visiting Briars Chase Sales Centre, located off Heanor Road, Ilkeston and open Thursday to Monday from 10.30am to 5.30pm.

All entries with the completed entry form need to be received at the development by 5pm on Wednesday 16th September. The new garden will be officially opened by its young designer on Saturday 26th September.

The new Briars Chase development will offer an exciting mixture of 280 new homes comprising one, two, three and four bedroom homes and stylish one and two-bedroom apartments.

The family-friendly development is conveniently located in Ilkeston, and is close to numerous infant, junior and secondary schools - with Granby Junior School, Chaucer Junior, Infant and Nursery School, Bennerley School and Ilkeston Secondary School all less than a mile away.

Victoria Park Leisure Centre is less than half a mile away, where a variety of activities take place including swimming lessons, aqua aerobics and keep fit.

Further information on homes at Briars Chase and the Garden Design Competition is available by visiting the development, and online at taylorwimpey.co.uk.
