Take a step back in time
Visitors to the site of the former Norfolk and Norwich Hospital will be invited to take a step back in time this weekend as the venue plays host to a Victorian-themed fete. The site, which is now owned by housebuilder Charles Church and is being sensitively converted into apartments, is being transformed back to its glory days on Saturday, August 30th to mark the unveiling of the building's original clock tower - which dates back to the 18th century.
Between midday and 3pm on Saturday guests will be able to listen to the sounds of a brass band, laugh at a Punch and Judy act, view a selection of original artefacts and memorabilia recovered during the conversion of the hospital, take part in balloon modeling and indulge in cakes, teas and coffees and a hog roast - to name but a few of the activities planned.
The Lord Mayor of Norwich, Councillor Jeremey Hooke, has been invited along to mark the start of the fun-filled day and to cut the ribbon to official mark the unveiling of the clock tower. He will kick start the events from midday.
Heather Clarke, sales manager for Charles Church, says: "The Victorian themed fun day will offer Norwich residents the opportunity to take a step back in time and will help them to imagine what used to be on the site of the Fellowes Plain development. The hospital was founded in 1771 and the iconic clock tower, which lies at the heart of this characteristic development, is going to be officially unveiled and restarted to mark the success of the site. It promises to be a fun filled day for all who attend!"
Fellowes Plain is located in St Stephens Road in Norwich and offers a selection of refurbished apartments as well as a variety of new build apartments.
