Landmark promotion for Persimmon

Mark Newby, newly promoted to land director Just one year after joining Beverley-based Persimmon Homes East Yorkshire as land manager and Mark Newby has been promoted to land director. Mark boasts more than 30 years construction industry experience after starting his career at Hambleton District Council where he worked in the planning department before progressing to local plans officer at Selby District Council.

A spell as building conservation officer followed at Humberside County Council and he then took the unusual step of joining a firm of new home developers as planner/land buyer. His career continued in similar roles with spells at two national house builders before arriving at Persimmon.

As part of his new role, Mark will be responsible for the identification and purchase of prime sites for development along with ensuring the strength of Persimmon’s forward land bank. He comments: “I’m delighted to be playing a part in helping change the residential face of the region and I’m looking forward to the challenges this new role will bring.”

Qualified in Surveying, Cartography and Planning, Mark also has a diploma in Town and Regional Planning from Leeds Metropolitan University and is a Member of the Royal Town and Planning Institute. Born in York, Mark (51) now lives in Wilberfoss and has two children. Along with being an avid football supporter, he is also a keen classic car enthusiast.

Persimmon Homes East Yorkshire is currently building in Brandesburton, Lincoln, Hull, Scunthorpe, North Hykeham, Brough and Market Weighton.
