Six awards in six months for Barratt York

Barratt award success Housebuilder Barratt York is celebrating its most successful year in 25 years in terms of house sales, customer service levels and awards. The company, which developed more than 500 new homes across North and East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire in the last 12 months, has also won six high profile awards in the last six months.

The quality workmanship of three site managers from Hull were recognised with Pride in the Job awards from the industry’s watchdog body, the National House Building Council. Mark Thomson, Paul Dearnley and Simon Allerston were recognised for their respective work at Waterside Park and Kings Park in Hull and The Crayke in Bridlington.

In a national survey of 30,000 house buyers, Barratt York won the Gold Award in the 2007 British Housebuilder Awards in the category for housebuilders completing over 500 new homes a year.

Earlier this year Barratt Group swept the board in the Homebuilder of the Year awards and was also named as one of the UK’s “Top 100 Companies that Count” demonstrating the housebuilder’s commitment to continually improve its impact on society and the environment through its work. Barratt was the only housebuilder to appear in the Top 100, which is part of the Corporate Responsibility Index, judged by Business In The Community (BITC) and the Sunday Times.

Paul Newman, managing director at Barratt York, which employs 300 people and operates from new offices at Monks Cross North business park in York, said: “Barratt is the UK’s biggest housebuilder and the York division has enjoyed great success in its 40 year history. Our success and these awards are recognition of our team’s skills and dedication and give added reassurance to our buyers.”
