A new home in an established community

23rd August 2007 Print
Julie and Michael Rolfe A couple and their teenage daughter have found the perfect three-storey home at Rushmore Grange, George Wimpey North East’s new Washington development. Julie and Michael Rolfe had been living in a three bedroom semi detached house in Washington with their 15 year old daughter Charlotte. When Michael was promoted, the family decided to find a larger home to give them all a bit more space.

Julie said: “We were really keen to stay in the area. We’ve lived in Washington for over 20 years, so we have a lot of ties to the village; Charlotte goes to the local school, Michael works nearby in Gosforth and I work at the HSBC bank just a short walk away.

“Finding a house that would offer us more space was our chief consideration and we were also keen to buy a new build property.

“Rushmore Grange really appealed to us because it’s in such a lovely part of the village, close to the village green with lots of trees and some beautiful old stone buildings.

“It’s also near to shops, restaurants and the local pub, and there’s a leisure centre and cinema nearby so we get the best of both worlds – a new home in a well established community.”

The family had originally looked at traditional two-storey houses at the development and hadn’t really considered townhouses, but after looking around a three-storey townhouse they were struck by the amount of extra space that the extra storey gave them for their money.

They reserved a four bedroom, three-storey detached Birch townhouse off-plan, sold their old house quickly and moved into rented accommodation until the house was finished. They moved in at the beginning of July.

Julie commented: “We’re enjoying all the extra space. We’ve got an open plan kitchen and dining room which extends right from the front for the house to the back, so it’s brilliant for entertaining.

“Our bedroom and en-suite bathroom is on the first floor along with a study and living room. Charlotte has two rooms on the top floor to herself, and we’re planning to use the fourth bedroom on that floor as a gym.”

When the Rolfes bought their home they also received around £2,000 worth of options from George Wimpey. These enabled them to upgrade their kitchen appliances and bathroom fittings and have the house fitted with carpets throughout.

Julie said: “We can’t fault the quality of the house or the customer service we’ve received. Any queries we’ve had have been dealt with very quickly, and the George Wimpey sales staff and site manger have been exceptional.”

Rushmore Grange is an exclusive development consisting of just 55 three and four bedroom family homes and a selection of two bedroom apartments.
