400 new Gladedale homes for the North East
Primo by Gladedale today (21st March 2008) unveiled multi-million pound plans to bring much-needed new housing to the north east of England. The leading housebuilder is planning a £45 million development programme to create more than 430 new homes in the first half of 2008.Part of the Gladedale Group – the UK’s sixth largest housebuilder – Primo is committed to meeting housing needs with a range of affordable homes.
Work has already started on three sites which will deliver a total of 181 properties.
A £3.5 million development at Hepburn Gardens in Gateshead has just received planning permission and a total of 34 two and three bedroom homes are to be created.
A further 100 homes are planned for Edenhills in Peterlee and the £8.5 million regeneration of the former council housing scheme will see a range of two, three and four bedroom homes being built.
The former Ashington College site in Northumberland is to be the site of a £5.8 million development. The college building is now being demolished to make way for 47 two and three bedroom homes.
The company has also submitted planning applications for a further three developments.
A £9 million regeneration initiative for Flodden Road in Sunderland would revitalise the local area with 90 two, three and four bedroom homes as well as amenities for the local community.
A £8 million regeneration programme is also proposed for Neil Street in Sunderland. This would see the creation of 72 two, three and four bedroom homes.
A further fourteen homes are planned for Front Street, Quarrington Hill in County Durham. The £1.5 million initiative would see the site transformed with two and three bedroom terraced properties.
Primo by Gladedale is also set to submit planning applications for a further three developments.
The company proposes to redevelop two former nursing homes in Middlesborough to create 53 two and three bedroom homes in a £6.5 million development.
An application for a £3 million redevelopment of a derelict nursing home at Glebe House, Dryburgh in Washington is also to be submitted imminently. If successful, a development of 23 one, two and three bedroom homes will be created.
