Barratt to build new homes in Sunderland

Barratt North East is set to start work on a new development of first-time buyer and family homes in Sunderland.

‘Highfields’ will provide a mix of 2 and 3-bedroom homes in some of the housebuilder’s most popular designs.

Work is due to begin on the site in Whitchurch Road, on the outskirts of the city, in the next few weeks and sales manager Steve Mariner said: “We’re delighted to be building in Sunderland again and are really looking forward to getting on site.

“Highfields is in a great location, close to countryside and a wide range of amenities, and handy for commuting.

“We will be building 39 homes from our award-winning Premier Collection, which blend traditional exterior styling with modern interior layouts. They represent excellent value for money and we’ll be offering keen prices and a variety of packages to help people move.”

Designs at Highfields include the ‘Washington’, an ideal first home which features a spacious open-plan living room with dining area and French doors opening into the garden. The fully-fitted kitchen comes complete with oven, hob and hood, and there is a useful cloakroom. Upstairs are two double bedrooms and a bathroom.

Another house style, the 3-bedroom ‘Palmerston’, also has an open-plan living room, fully-fitted kitchen with dining area and French doors into the garden, and a cloakroom. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms and a single, and the family bathroom.

Steve added: “We’ve seen a marked increase in sales inquiries and visitor levels at our developments recently, as people are realising that now could be a very good time to buy. We expect there will be a great deal of interest in Highfields.”
