Minister is "sold" on new homes in Durham Housing Minister Caroline Flint was delighted to find evidence that homes are still selling in the North East when she visited a Barratt development in Durham. Ms Flint spotted several "sold" signs on new homes being built at The Sidings in Blackhall Rocks and quipped: "It's good to see that homes here are being sold - I'll get a picture and take it back to London with me!"

The minister was visiting the development to officially open six affordable bungalows which have been provided by a partnership between Barratt North East and District of Easington Council.

She told residents and guests: "I know that people in Easington are trying really hard to provide the homes that people want and I'm pleased to see these fantastic bungalows. I wish the tenants all the best in their new homes."

Barratt North East managing director Bernard Rooney said: "The Sidings is a very popular development, providing a range of much-needed new homes which are selling very well."

Barratt is building a mix of 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes at The Sidings, at prices ranging from £118,995 to £197,995.

The development is located on the Durham coastline within 30 minutes drive of Sunderland, Durham and Middlesbrough, enabling homeowners to enjoy both the fresh coastal air and easy commuting.
