Gladedale commits to apprenticeships

6th March 2009 Print
Gladedale commits to apprenticeships Local housebuilder Gladedale is investing valuable resources back into the building industry by delivering local apprenticeship schemes, teaching young people essential skills of the trade.

The apprenticeship schemes, which combine hands-on training at work with studying at college, allow young people to learn on the job while gaining knowledge, skills and nationally recognised qualifications.

With a total of seven students across North East England, Gladedale has experienced huge success in the apprenticeships with one of their students, Ian Watson, winning the Apprentice of the Year 2008 at New College Durham.

20 year old Ian Watson, who is in his third year as a Gladedale apprentice, has been an exceptional student showing commitment and quality in both practical and theoretical aspects.

Frank Lincoln, Construction Director for Gladedale in North East England, said: “We are very proud of all our students and the apprenticeship schemes have clearly shown that if you commit to the students they will give commitment back; it’s a win-win situation.

“As a leading housebuilder in North East England, Gladedale understands the importance of passing on the skills to these young people as it provides vital assets to the construction industry. Our aim is to watch the students become tradesmen and eventually progress into management.”

The award-winning housebuilder has a range of developments in and around North East England and has developed an extensive portfolio of homes in the area.
