Redrow site manager repeats quality performance

Redrow site manager repeats quality performance Two times national award winner Mark Symonds (pictured) is hoping to go one step further this year in an industry-wide competition that rewards housebuilders' site managers for their achievements.

The 37-year-old site manager with Redrow Homes must wait until October to find out if he's won a coveted ‘Seal of Excellence' but, in the meantime, he's celebrating his second ‘Quality' award in the National House-Building Council's (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job initiative.

And, giving him even more reason to celebrate, Mark and his wife Rhiannon are also looking forward to the arrival of their first child in September of this year. The couple live in a Redrow home at Parc Pen-y-fal, in Abergavenny.

Both ‘Quality' awards have been for Mark's work at John Fielding Gardens, in Llantarnam, Cwmbran, which features a selection of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes.

One of only 400 site managers from 18,000 across the UK to win an NHBC ‘Quality' award this year - and one of eight Redrow site managers enjoying success - Mark's achievement reflects the calibre of his site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.

The site manager, who has been with Redrow for eight years, said: "John Fielding Gardens was the first site that I have been in charge of from day one. I was delighted to win a ‘Quality' award last year and to be successful two years running is even better. Now I just hope I can take it to the next level and collect a ‘Seal of Excellence', which would place me in the top 100 site managers around the UK.

"John Fielding Gardens is such a lovely development and the standard of design and specification has undoubtedly played a part in impressing the NHBC inspector, but it's also got a lot to do with the hard work and commitment of the whole construction team on site.

Mark will attend a special presentation ceremony at Holland House, in Cardiff, on October 10th when he will also find out if he has won a coveted ‘Seal of Excellence'.

Mark and his team's award winning work at John Fielding Gardens is now almost complete, with only a handful of four and five-bedroom detached homes remaining for sale, priced from £429,995.
