Barratt announces ‘Bag for Life’ winner

Liberty Knox (10) from Llanfoist Fawr Primary School has won Barratt South Wales’ ‘Bag for Life’ design competition. Children aged ten and eleven from the school toured Barratt’s Plas Mynydd development in Llanfoist and viewed the two showhomes; they were then invited to enter a competition to draw a picture of something that inspired them during their visit which could be printed onto eco-friendly bags.

Barratt judged Liberty’s picture the winner and presented her with a £50 WHSmith gift voucher. In addition, the housebuilder donated a laptop computer and £500 to the after school club. All the children at the school received a free bag featuring Liberty’s design.

Adrian Bird, sales director at Barratt South Wales, says: “We enjoyed hosting the pupils at Plas Mynydd, where they gained an insight into interior design and marketing and were able to discuss the different job opportunities in the housebuilding industry.

“I would like to thank all the children for their super designs for the ‘Bag for Life’ and offer my congratulations to Liberty; we thought her design had some very good messages.”

Mary Larner, head teacher at Llanfoist Fawr Primary School, says: “The children enjoyed working with Barratt on the ‘Bag for Life’ project and we are encouraging them to use their new bags to help preserve the environment.”
