29th August 2007 Print
TAP will begin operating two more daily flights to Rome from September 15, one from Lisbon and the other from Porto, reinforcing its operations to Italy with the range of destinations now served by 12 flights a day.

This new connection between the Francisco Sá Carneiro and Fiumicino airports will be the first to unite Porto and Italy, part of the Company’s new policy of developing a second hub in the north of the Country and which now includes flights to 17 national and foreign airports.

At the same time as facilitating transportation for residents from the north of the country on trips abroad, TAP is also committed to connecting Portugal with leading markets that generate visitors to Europe, reinforcing its contribution to the growth of national tourism, with positive implications for the entry of foreign currency and job creation.

From the middle of next month, the TAP flight schedule to Italy will increase to four flights a day to Rome (one extra) from Lisbon and a new direct flight from Porto to this city.

To Milan, operations include three daily flights from Lisbon and two from Porto, while Venice and Bologna each have a daily flight departing from Lisbon.

In the first seven months (accumulated January – July) of this year, TAP transported more than 320 thousand passengers (321,013) on all its flights that serve Italy, a total compared with the 259,814 passengers transported in the same period of 2006, and reflecting an increase of more than 70 thousand passengers, or more than 24 percent.
