TAP increases European fleet

29th May 2008 Print
TAP’s medium-haul fleet has been increased with the arrival of a new A319 aircraft that will be integrated into regular company flights on May 17 after undergoing initial maintenance and engineering preparatory work.

On this date it will make three flights in Europe, the first of which to Rome at 7:45am, followed by another to Funchal at 3:10pm and a further flight at 7:05pm to London where it will remain for the night.

This new TAP aircraft registered under number CS-TTR, takes the name of “Soares dos Reis”, an acclaimed Portuguese sculpture of the 19th Century whose name was given to one of the most important national museums located in the city of Porto and the sculptor with others of the famous statue of Dom Afonso Henriques in Guimaraes.

In June, TAP will take delivery of another A319 to further expand its medium-haul fleet and support the growth in company operations on routes in Europe. During the first four months of 2008 these have transported 25 percent more passengers than in the same period the previous year.
