TAP reinforces leadership on Portugal-Spain routes

3rd February 2009 Print
In 2008 TAP reinforced its leadership on routes between Portugal and Spain by transporting 177 thousand more passengers between the two countries than in the previous year, reaching a total of 817 thousand passengers, equivalent to a comparable growth of 28 percent. This positive figure contrasts with a downturn in this market that saw a reduction of 82 thousand passengers transported last year by all the regular airline companies operating these routes.

With this growth, TAP increased its market quota in airline passenger transport between Portugal and Spain, chosen by 31.2 percent of passengers who travelled by plane between the two countries in 2008.

For this year, TAP has scheduled seven daily flights between Lisbon and Madrid, four between Porto and the Spanish capital, six connecting Lisbon and Barcelona, four between Porto and Barcelona, two connecting Lisbon and Seville, three to Bilbao, one to Coruna, one to Malaga and one to Pamplona, as well as a weekly connection between Funchal and Madrid during the summer.
