TAP offers better connections to Canada

30th April 2009 Print
TAP Portugal and Air Canada, the Canadian airline and partner in Star Alliance have recently set up a code-share agreement that enables both to offer customers more flight options and the best possible connections between Portugal and Canada.

TAP and Air Canada will now run code-share flights between Portugal and Canada via selected cities. With this agreement, cities such as Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Ottawa in Canada, and Lisbon and Porto in Portugal, have been added to the operations’ network of both companies. This also represents the offer of substantial benefits for their respective customers, in particular, easy booking, miles earned on each other’s networks and better connections, with a single ticket and baggage dispatch straight through to their final destination.

“Implementation of this code-share agreement with Air Canada, one of the founding companies of the Star Alliance, represents an important step in the broadening of commercial ties with one of the most innovative and leading airline companies on a world level”, stated Jose Guedes Dias, Director of TAP Alliances & External Affairs, also adding that he expects “the offer of a vast range of direct and more convenient flights to benefit not just and in particular the large Portuguese community residing in Canada, but also business and tourism travel segments in general”

“By working closely together and developing our relationship with TAP, the leading airline company in Portugal and member of Star Alliance, Air Canada now offers its customers better connections between Canada and Portugal and extends its already extensive network of flights to Europe as well as the European Continent", said Marcel Forget, in charge of Network & Planning at Air Canada.

Within the scope of this partnership TAP now offers is TP flight code on flights Air Canada runs between Canadian cities and international destinations, in particular, Newark (USA), London (England) or Madrid (Spain). In turn, Air Canada will put its AC code on flights operated by TAP between Lisbon or Porto and the abovementioned international destinations.

The two companies will hence offer regular services between Portugal and Canada via better connections to selected cities and each of the two can use the respective codes for the entire itinerary.
