TAP & LOT extend code-share

18th May 2009 Print
The launch of direct TAP flights between Lisbon and Warsaw from June 9 enabled TAP Portugal and LOT Polish Airlines, both Star Alliance partners, to intensify their bilateral ties of cooperation, extending their code-share operations to this new service.

TAP has maintained a code-share agreement with LOT since August 2004 and one which has been very positive and through which the two companies provide their customers with a substantial range of benefits.

Within this new context, LOT will now use its ‘LO’ code on direct TAP flights running between Lisbon and Warsaw five flights a week. Flights run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays on the Lisbon-Warsaw leg, with departures at 4:60pm and arrivals at 9:45pm. On the return leg, flights run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and also on Saturdays and Sundays, departing from the capital of Poland at 6:05am and arriving in Lisbon at 9:05am.

Within the scope of their partnership in addition to these new services the two companies already offer a vast range of services operated under code-sharing and via connections to selected intermediary destinations in the European networks of each one. They now face the possibility of further expanding the scope of their code-share agreement to other cities covered by their respective domestic networks within the two countries, Portugal and Poland.

With this cooperation, LOT, the leading Polish airline company is now the preferential partner in the commercialization and sale of tickets on new direct TAP flights between Lisbon and Warsaw. This partnership represents considerable value for the company, reflected not just in the amount of additional traffic intake on the new route but also propelling and facilitating penetration within the Polish market, capable of contributing as a whole to the positive results of this new challenge.

In addition to this, customers can also benefit from better fare and route combinations, offering them better travel options between the two countries as well as added advantages.
