TAP promotes fundraising for refugees

TAP has associated itself with Helpin, a virtual network of private sector Portuguese partners coordinated by the High Commissariat of the United Nations for Refugees – UNHCR. The nationwide initiative aims to raise funds for refugees on the African continent.

TAP has begun a campaign to collect funds using a number of its own media channels, in particular TAP websites, TAP Victoria and TAP Corporate, UP magazine as well as in-flight videos.

Funds raised from the range of donations collected will be used by UNHCR so refugees can be supplied with food, shelter and other materials essential to their survival.

Helpin is currently developing a project in the area of nutrition: “Hunger & Poor Nutrition”, focusing in particular on combating anemia with a view to preventing and treating the disease, concentrating on food supplements using a range of supplements enriched with micro-nutrients. High levels of anemia are seen at refugee camps and these are responsible for increased death rates, above all in children and women during labor, and also contribute to the proliferation of other associated diseases.
