18th January 2007 Print
Low fares airline Monarch is today celebrating its 100,000th scheduled passenger travelling on its Manchester to Almeria service – less than two years after launching the route.

Lucky passengers, Diane and Christopher McNally from Egerton were surprised with champagne as they checked in for their Monarch flight at Manchester Airport this morning and were awarded with a pair of free flights courtesy of the award wining airline.

Diane McNally said, “We are extremely surprised to be Monarch’s 100,000th passenger to travel on this route, and absolutely delighted to have been issued with a pair of free flights. Thank you to all the Monarch staff for making us feel so special - what a fantastic way to start our weekend in Almeria”.

The McNally’s will also benefit from extra-legroom seating on their flights to and from Almeria as well as complimentary food, drinks and champagne onboard.

Commenting on today’s milestone, Managing Director of Monarch’s scheduled service division Tim Jeans said, “The launch of Monarch’s Manchester to Almeria service in April 2005 has proved to be a huge success and one that is now being replicated from our bases in Birmingham and Luton. Demand for the route continues to grow at a phenomenal rate and we are delighted to be able to respond to this by offering further flights to Almeria from Manchester for Summer 2007.

“This increase in frequency strengthens Monarch’s position as market leader to Almeria from the North West and, with additional services also from London bringing the total number of weekly flights to Almeria to 12, the airline is now the UK’s largest operator to Almeria for Summer 2007”.

Monarch will increase its four times a week Manchester to Almeria service to five times a week from 02 April. All flights are available to book via flyMonarch.com.

Monarch operates scheduled flights to Spain, Gibraltar, Portugal and Cyprus from Aberdeen, Birmingham, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester airports and was named as Leisure Airline of the Year in recent Travel Industry Awards. Fares on Monarch flights include complimentary daily newspapers, a refreshing hot towel service and require no additional payment for checking-in baggage; also available is a unique range of tasty hot and cold meals with prices from £3.00. Seats can be pre-booked at £5 per one-way flight to avoid the last minute free-for-all, or for only £15, why not try one of the 48 extra-legroom seats which offer up to six inches of extra space? Regular travellers are rewarded too, with a range of benefits through the airline’s loyalty scheme, Vantage Club.

Passengers travelling on scheduled flights from Manchester and Birmingham can also avoid the queues at the airport and take advantage of online check-in which is available between 24 and 4 hours prior to departure, or from 36 hours if you are a Vantage Club member.
