New routes stimulate growth at Monarch

Award-winning low fares airline Monarch continued to see growth on its scheduled services in April with a 16% increase in passenger numbers during the month compared to the same period last year.

New routes from Manchester to Jerez and London Luton to Cyprus as well as increased frequencies from Birmingham and London Luton to Palma de Mallorca have helped passenger numbers soar for the month.

Monarch’s passenger statistics for scheduled services during April 2007:

(1) Passenger numbers

April 2006: 261,756

April 2007: 304,718

% change: +16.41%

(2) Internet sales percentage

April 2006: 87.4%

April 2007: 90.6%

% change: +3.2%

1. Represents the number of earned seats flown by Monarch. Earned seats include seats that are flown whether or not the passenger turns up because once a flight has departed a no-show customer is not entitled to change flights or seek a refund.

2. Represents the number of seats sold via FlyMonarch.com.
