Flight ban on personal meat and dairy export products

14th August 2007 Print
To help prevent the spread of foot and mouth disease to other countries it is, from 07 August 2007, illegal to take abroad meat and dairy products from animals that are susceptible to foot and mouth disease including cattle, pigs, goat, sheep and deer.

The following food and drink items are included in the ban:

- Meat
- Meat products
- Milk
- Milk and dairy products

This ban includes sandwiches, packed lunches and food for self-catering holidays including fresh, chilled, frozen, tinned, preserved and processed products.

A great selection of tasty hot and cold snacks and meals, including sandwiches are available to purchase onboard Monarch flights however, with prices starting from only £3.

Foot and mouth disease presents no risk to humans but does pose a threat to animal health. It can be spread to susceptible animals through a variety of food products. It is therefore important that you DO NOT take the above food items abroad.
