August washout creates mass exodus to Europe

4th September 2007 Print
Award-winning low fares airline Monarch is celebrating yet another record breaking month after carrying 459,056 passengers on scheduled flights in August 2007, almost 100,000 passengers more than last August and the third month in a row that the airline has flown in excess of 400,000 passengers in one month.

The poor UK weather, which has seen maximum temperatures below average and the wettest summer on record, has enticed thousands of people to head for the far warmer climes of Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar and Cyprus.

Monarch operates scheduled flights to Spain, Gibraltar, Portugal and Cyprus from Aberdeen, Birmingham, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester airports and was named as Leisure Airline of the Year in recent Travel Industry Awards.

Fares on Monarch flights include complimentary daily newspapers and a refreshing hot towel service; also available is a unique range of tasty hot and cold meals with prices from £3.00. Seats can be pre-booked at £5 per one-way flight to avoid the last minute free-for-all experienced on some other airlines, or for only £15, why not try one of our 48 extra-legroom seats which offer up to six inches of extra space? Regular travellers are rewarded too, with a range of benefits through the airline’s loyalty scheme, Vantage Club.

Passengers travelling on scheduled flights can also avoid the queues at the airport and take advantage of online check-in which is available between 24 and 4.5 hours prior to departure or from 36 hours if you are a Vantage Club member.
