Hand baggage restrictions updated

2nd January 2008 Print
The department for Transport has approved new security arrangements at a number of UK airports, removing the single hand baggage restriction from the 07 January 2008.

This change does not affect airlines’ own hand baggage regulations however and as such Monarch’s policy on the carriage of hand luggage remains unchanged. Each passenger travelling on a scheduled flight (flight prefix ZB) is entitled to one item of hand baggage with the maximum weight not exceeding 10kg per person and the total dimensions not exceeding 56cm x 45cm x 25cm.

For passengers travelling on Monarch charter flights (flight prefix MON), one item of hand baggage is permitted with the maximum weight not exceeding 5kg per person and the total dimensions not exceeding 56cm x 45cm x 25cm.

The policy on the carriage of liquids through airport security check points remains unchanged. Liquids may be carried in separate containers with a capacity not greater than 100ml, which must be presented separately for examination at the airport security point in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag, which itself must not exceed 1 litre in capacity (approximately 20cm x 20cm).
