Staying ahead of the game is key to an airline's success and award winning low fare airline Monarch is once again leading the way by announcing its Winter 2008/2009 schedules from Birmingham and London Luton, with the schedules for Manchester and London Gatwick to be announced shortly.

The schedules, which are on sale now via Monarch.co.uk, includes increased frequencies to the popular Canary Island destinations of Tenerife and Lanzarote from both UK airports, with additional flying to Alicante and Malaga from Birmingham.

Highlights of the Winter 2007/2008 schedule from Birmingham include:

- Alicante - up to daily flights
- Faro - up to four flights per week
- Lanzarote - up to three flights per week
- Malaga - up to daily flights
- Tenerife - up to daily flights

Highlights of the Winter 2007/2008 schedule from Luton include:

- Larnaca - up to three flights per week
- Alicante - up to seven flights per week
- Gibraltar - up to six times per week
- Lanzarote - three flights per week
- Malaga - up to seven flights per week
- Menorca - two flights per week
- Tenerife - up to seven flights per week

Commenting on the launch of the schedule, Liz Savage, managing director of Monarch's scheduled services, said: "We're once again ahead of our rivals by putting our entire Winter programme on sale before the summer months begin, and with more flights to the destinations our passengers want, we're giving them exactly what they want too.

"Demand for travel to the Canary Islands in particular has been huge for Winter and we're pleased to be able to offer 15% more seats compared to last Winter from Birmingham and 10% from London Luton.

"Our core routes to destinations such as Alicante and Malaga remain strong and with up to seven flights a week to both airports, our passengers will benefit from having more choice about when and where they fly. We continue to offer great value for money by combining our low fares and enhanced onboard and on the ground services, such as online check in."

Monarch operates scheduled flights to Spain, Gibraltar, Portugal and Cyprus from Birmingham, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester airports and was named as Leisure Airline of the Year in recent Travel Industry Awards for the second year in succession.

In addition to year-round low fares, Monarch also offers a unique range of tasty hot and cold meals onboard with prices from £3.00. Seats can be pre-booked at £5 per one-way flight to avoid the last minute free-for-all experienced on some other airlines, or for only £15, 48 extra-legroom seats are available which offer up to six inches of extra space. Regular travellers are rewarded too, with a range of benefits through the airline's loyalty scheme, Vantage Club.

Passengers travelling on scheduled flights can also avoid the queues at the airport and take advantage of online check-in which is available between 7 days and 4.5 hours prior to departure.
