‘Book with confidence’ says Monarch

2nd June 2009 Print
Monarch is the oldest airline in the UK still flying under its original brand name and has this year celebrated its 41st anniversary, however extensive discussions between Monarch cabin crew representatives, the cabin crew trade union (UNITE) and Monarch have been taking place over recent months, and relate to a cabin crew pay deal for the year starting October 2008.

Despite prolonged negotiations, the parties have failed to reach an agreement and the union has indicated their intent to ballot their union members for industrial action in support of a pay claim.

Unfortunately in the current economic conditions and with the rapid decline of the world economy, which has impacted so severely on all airlines, Monarch has stated that its not in a position to support the pay claim.

In a statement, Monarch says;

“Every effort is being made by the Company to resolve the issues and we are in no doubt that we can work with our cabin crew to determine a satisfactory resolution. We are confident that industrial action will be averted.”
