Monarch celebrates record breaking loadfactors

9th September 2009 Print
Award winning low fare airline, Monarch is celebrating record breaking loadfactors on its scheduled flights in August, with flight occupancy across the network reaching 90.3% - a 1.6% increase compared to August 2008.

The increase has been fuelled by huge demand for services to Monarch’s scheduled mid-haul destinations throughout the month, such as the Canary Islands and Cyprus. Monarch carried 87% more passengers to Lanzarote and 63% more passengers to Larnaca during August 2009 compared to August 2008. Demand for services to Menorca and Gibraltar also continued to show strong growth, with the airline carrying 45% more passengers to Menorca and 30% more to Gibraltar year-on-year.

Commenting on the traffic increases for August, managing director of Monarch Flights and Holidays, Liz Savage said, “The mid-haul destinations within Monarch’s scheduled network remain strong and have once again proven they are firm favourites with customers.

“The onboard service offered on Monarch’s scheduled flights, which includes extra legroom seating, a great range of tasty hot and cold food, and selected inflight entertainment is over and above the levels provided by most low fares airlines, and is perfectly suited for longer flight sectors such as Tenerife, Lanzarote and Larnaca.

“The increase in passenger numbers to the Canaries and Cyprus again in August clearly demonstrates that when customers have a choice, they prefer to fly with Monarch.”

Monarch also now offers a huge range of value holidays, accommodation options, car hire and travel insurance.
