Air Astana wins Best e-Commerce Website award

Air Astana was proud to win the award for Best e-Commerce Website in Kazakhstan at the annual Awards.kz 2008, which was held on 19 Nov 2008. Last year Air Astana won three awards in the same event: The Best Corporate Website; Discovery of the Year and 3rd place for the Kazakh language website.

This year Gerry Mitchell, Director IT & e-Commerce, Rustem Karymov, e-Commerce Manager and other members of the e-Commerce team participated in this ceremony.

Gerry Mitchell in his speech mentioned that “This award is important as it recognizes the efforts that Air Astana has achieved to provide world-class online services for its customers. This year we intentionally focused our efforts on improving levels of customer service and ease-of-use, in the sphere of online sales and ticketing. The award shows the serious potential of the e-Commerce in Kazakhstan”.

Air Astana is proud of its online achievements, considering that the new Air Astana website was only launched in June 2007. Mr. Mitchell promised that “there were a lot more interesting developments in the pipeline and that we would be back again next year”.

Awards.kz is held annually to identify the most outstanding sources of Kazakh Internet (Kaznet). There are three criteria to choose from: best design; best technology and socio-cultural aspect.

The main aim of the contest is to help in development of the Internet in Kazakhstan as a new field for creative work, vacation and professional activity.
