27th May 2008 Print
The Latvian airline airBaltic will launch direct flights from R?ga to the Russian resort town of Sochi on June 18 of this year. Initially flights will be offered twice a week – on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

"Sochi is a wonderful destination, because it offers all types of recreation, whether swimming, skiing, beaches or mountains. We are delighted at this new route, which supplements airBaltic’s network of routes to the East. This is actually not a new route, it is a renewed one. Flights from R?ga to Sochi were available until the beginning of the 1990s," says airBaltic president and CEO Bertolt Flick.

The direct flights will be offered on Boeing 737-500 aircraft and will last for three hours and 10 minutes. Information about ticket prices can be found on airbaltic.com.

Sochi is a Russian resort town, which stretches along 145 kilometres of the Black Sea coast. The town has more than 227 treatment and leisure facilities, as well as hotels and tourist institutions. Sochi is famous for its mineral springs and medicinal mud. It is also known for extensive cultural and sports activities – mountain biking, skiing, cliff climbing, wind surfing, hydroplaning, diving, and many other opportunities for the active athlete.
