BA Chooses IAE engines for A320 family aircraft order
British Airways has chosen International Aero Engines V2500 engines to power its eight new Airbus A320 family aircraft that will be delivered in 2008-2010. The airline has also signed a long-term maintenance agreement with IAE for the engines.This follows a competition between engine manufacturers IAE and CFMi.
The airline currently has 67 Airbus shorthaul aircraft in its fleet, of which 58 are powered by IAE V2500 engines and nine are powered by CFMi engines.
IAE is a partnership involving Rolls Royce, Pratt and Whitney, Japanese Aero Engines Corp. and MTU Aero Engines.
The list price for two IAE V2500 engines is US$17 million.
