New Dublin service direct from the Docklands

24th April 2008 Print
British Airways is further expanding its network at London City Airport with the launch of a new service to Dublin and increased frequency on some existing routes. The new three-a-day Dublin service will begin on June 1, providing an important air link between the two capital cities for both business and leisure passengers.

The airline is also celebrating the success of its recently launched Nice route from London City with the introduction of a second daily return flight from September.

In addition British Airways is to increase the number of flights to Edinburgh in September, offering more flights to Scotland from London City Airport than any other airline.

Peter Simpson, managing director of BA CityFlyer, the British Airways' wholly owned subsidiary which operates the flights, said: "The launch of another new route and increased frequency comes at a significant time for us as we celebrate record passenger numbers at London City Airport. We have added to our previously business-based schedule a number of new routes that will hopefully attract leisure passengers who want to fly direct from the Docklands.

"Dublin is an important new route, linking two financial capitals, and we are delighted to be able to offer a three-a-day service in direct response to passenger demand."

One-way all inclusive fares to Dublin are available for £55 on Ba.com.

British Airways will now operate up to 400 European and domestic flights per week to and from the Docklands, these services include: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Madrid, Nice, Warsaw and Zurich.

Welcoming the new service, Richard Gooding OBE, chief executive of London City Airport, commented: "Dublin will be the tenth route to be served out of London City Airport by British Airways. This announcement comes at a significant time as the airport is close to completing the current phase of development including an extension to the departure lounge and new aircraft parking stands. British Airways' commitment to our Docklands hub is recognised by the business community who will appreciate the additional frequencies available to them."
