'Lufthansa Long Weekend' summer timetable

16th March 2007 Print
The latest ‘Lufthansa Long Weekend’ will coincide with the launch of the Summer timetable, offering even more connections to some of the most popular onward destinations for the airline’s UK passengers. The special ‘Long weekend’ fares will be on sale from just after midnight on the morning of Friday 16th until midnight on Tuesday 20th March on many of the 13,700 flights a week scheduled for the 2007 summer timetable (compared with 13,140 in summer 2006).

The summer timetable will start on Sunday 25th March and offers additional onward connections to some of the Lufthansa’s most popular onward destinations from the UK, including Rome, Istanbul, Shanghai, Moscow, St Petersburg, Bucharest and Florence. With increased connections through Düsseldorf and Hamburg as well as the main hubs of Frankfurt and Munich, Lufthansa is offering many UK passengers a real alternative to having to use the more congested airports in the South East.

This summer, capacity across the Lufthansa network will be increased by four per cent year-on-year to take account of the three per cent growth in traffic on European routes and the 4.4 per cent increase in long-haul traffic. This will expand Lufthansa’s global route network to 192 destinations in 78 countries (up from 188 destinations in 77 countries in summer 2006).

The port city of Busan in South Korea is the latest addition to Lufthansa’s long-haul network. In Europe, meanwhile, UK passengers will be able to connect to Tirana, Bastia on the island of Corsica, Hungary’s Lake Balaton and the Danish island of Bornholm.

Other onward destinations with increased services for Summer 2007 include
Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Caracas, Denver, Detroit, Krakow, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Tbilisi, Valencia, and Verona.

Lufthansa is one of the 17 partner airlines in the Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline grouping. This means that Lufthansa passengers can book flights right across the global Star Alliance network. With its three regional partner airlines, Star Alliance offers more than 16,000 flights per day to 855 cities in 155 countries.
