Lufthansa The German capital Berlin is the latest destination in Lufthansa’s growing network from London City Airport. “The positive economic climate in the UK and the rest of Europe is resulting in a growing demand for new city routes serving the mobility needs of both UK and German business travellers”, said Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa’s General Manager UK & Ireland. “With Lufthansa’s new non-stop service, Europe’s emerging conference and exhibition metropolis, Berlin, is now just around the corner from London’s financial district and the perfect destination for this speedy new service.“

With a journey time of a little over 100 minutes, the new route will be operated by Lufthansa Regional partner, Eurowings, with British Aerospace BAe 146-200 jet aircraft seating up to 89 passengers. While the morning flight LH 4839 starts in London at 9:40 a.m. and arrives in Berlin at 12:25 p.m. (daily, except Sundays), the evening flight LH 4843 leaves the Docklands airport at 6:05 p.m. and touches down at 8:50 p.m. (daily, except Saturdays).

(Flight LH 4838 leaves Berlin at 08:30 a.m. and arrives in London at 9:10 a.m. - daily, except Sundays, Flight LH 4842 leaves Berlin at 4:55 p.m. and arrives at 5:35 p.m. - daily, except Saturdays).

Richard Gooding OBE, Chief Executive of London City Airport commented: “The launch of the Berlin-Tegel route is exciting news for London City Airport and perfectly complements the range of German destinations available to the business traveller. We are very proud of our long-standing 14 year relationship with Lufthansa and Star Alliance, with successful existing routes to Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Nuremberg currently operating out of London City Airport and Stuttgart to be added next month.”

Over the last years, Berlin has emerged as a leading centre for conference and exhibitions in Europe with more than 50 major trade fairs as well as numerous international conferences being held in the city each year. The city also hosts the European headquarters of numerous multinational companies. Lufthansa’s new non-stop flights will offer business travellers, particularly those based in Canary Wharf, the City, East London, and the surrounding Westminster and central London catchment areas, a fast, frequent and conveniently timed connection to Germany’s capital.

The new flights can be booked online at Lufthansa.com. One way fares in Economy Class start from £45.00, while return fares will be available from £79.00 (all including taxes and charges). Business Class return fares start at £729.00 (including taxes and charges).
