Lufthansa to launch Frankfurt to Bristol route

5th November 2007 Print
More good news for fans of the British Isles who get even more possibilities to cross the Channel. Next year, Lufthansa is launching a thrice-daily service to Bristol in South West England from Frankfurt, its major hub. "Bristol and its environs are one of the most important economic regions in the UK," says Dr. Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht, Head of Hub Management at Frankfurt.

"The new route will bring considerable time savings for the travel plans of many business travellers." The non-stop flights will start on 30 March 2008 with the introduction of the 2008 summer timetable and will be operated year-round.

The new service will make Lufthansa’s route network in Britain even denser. Bristol will become the seventh Lufthansa destination in the UK market – after London, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Newquay. Lufthansa now operates 455 flights a week to the UK, and the new route to Bristol will add a further 21 weekly flights. "We are currently the only scheduled airline offering non-stop flights from Germany to Bristol from next summer," Dr. Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht notes. Lufthansa customers flying from South West England will have excellent onward connections from Frankfurt to more than 139 destinations worldwide.

Bristol lies on the River Avon and has a large catchment area of 2.3 million people. The port city has a unique and fascinating location, as it is close to the sea and is surrounded by hilly countryside. This is also one of the most economically vibrant regions in the UK. The "gateway to the South West", as Bristol is called, is an excellent starting point for trips to Bath, Plymouth and popular holiday destinations such as Cornwall. Wales and its two largest cities, Cardiff and Swansea, are also within easy reach.

A return flight from Frankfurt to Bristol can be booked for as little as 99 euros (betterFly fare). The fare quoted includes all taxes, fees and the Lufthansa Ticket Service Charge of ten euros for bookings made online at Lufthansa.com. Miles & More members can accumulate miles on these flights.
