Bayern Munich to continue flying with Lufthansa

9th November 2007 Print
Lufthansa will remain the "Official Carrier" for Germany’s record league champions Bayern Munich for the next three years. The two sides announced that they were extending their partnership today.

As part of the marketing collaboration, Lufthansa will lay on special flights to transport the team to Bundesliga games and cup ties in Germany as well as to UEFA Cup or Champions League matches throughout Europe. The Lufthansa Private Jet service will also give the team greater flexibility when making their travel plans.

The team and the club will thus have access to Lufthansa’s complete range flight services. In return, Lufthansa will receive more marketing benefits. For example, it will boost its advertising as a premium partner on pitchside hoardings at home games in Munich or at UEFA Cup matches. The airline’s advertisements will also appear in Bayern Munich’s print and online media. In addition, Lufthansa and Bayern Munich are planning joint promotions with top players and the club’s board of directors.

"Over the past few years, we have come to know Bayern Munich as a reliable partner, and we are delighted to be continuing this successful partnership," said Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales, Lufthansa Passenger Airlines. "Lufthansa is and will remain the ‘sports airline’ – both for our partner Bayern Munich and for the team’s fans. Football will continue to be a high priority in our activities, particularly in view of the European Championship next year," he added.

"With Lufthansa we have the world’s best and safest partner at our side," commented Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "The service that our club and our team receive as a result of this partnership will continue, and is an important component in our success. Reliability, state-of-the-art technology and first-class services are the attributes that distinguish both Bayern Munich and Lufthansa, and they are key aspects of our future partnership."
